Hey everyone...

I've had a pretty fun week so far... Wednsday Graham came  over and we biked to the Stanford mall and hung out in the Apple store just playing around with the iPhone for a while :)

then we went back a few hours later with his youth group to play "Do Ducks Have Lips?" It's this sickawesome scavenger hunt his youth group does every  year where all the counselors disguise themselves and all the youth group swarms through the mall trying to find them and collect signatures from them! i posted pictures on facebook if anyone wants to go look...

anyway, my team came in last, but it was still hecka fun!
other than that... i haven't really done much, just tried to relax and watch movies :)
oh, swim meet tuesday afternoon... it sucked... i swum horribly! and there's championships tomorrow...
i'm kinda dreading them... anyway, catch you all later!

Joke for the day:
An unemployed man is desperate to support his family of a
wife and three kids. He applies for a janitor's job at a
large firm and easily passes an aptitude test.

The human resources manager tells him, "You will be hired at
minimum wage of $5.35 an hour. Let me have your e-mail
address so that we can get you in the loop. Our system will
automatically e-mail you all the forms and advise you when
to start and where to report on your first day."

Taken back, the man protests that he is poor and has neither
a computer nor an e-mail address.

To this the manager replies, "You must understand that to a
company like ours that means that you virtually do not
exist. Without an e-mail address you can hardly expect to be
employed by a high-tech firm. Good day."

Stunned, the man leaves. Not knowing where to turn and
having $10 in his wallet, he walks past a farmers' market
and sees a stand selling 25 lb. crates of beautiful red
tomatoes. He buys a crate, carries it to a busy corner and
displays the tomatoes. In less than 2 hours he sells all the
tomatoes and makes 100% profit.

Repeating the process several times more that day, he ends
up with almost $100 and arrives home that night with several
bags of groceries for his family.

During the night he decides to repeat the tomato business
the next day. By the end of the week he is getting up early
every day and working into the night. He multiplies his
profits quickly.

Early in the second week he acquires a cart to transport
several boxes of tomatoes at a time, but before a month is
up he sells the cart to buy a broken-down pickup truck.

At the end of a year he owns three old trucks. His two sons
have left their neighborhood gangs to help him with the
tomato business, his wife is buying the tomatoes, and his
daughter is taking night courses at the community college so
she can keep books for him.

By the end of the second year he has a dozen very nice used
trucks and employs fifteen previously unemployed people, all
selling tomatoes.

He continues to work hard.

Time passes and at the end of the fifth year he owns a fleet
of nice trucks and a warehouse that his wife supervises,
plus two tomato farms that the boys manage. The tomato
company's payroll has put hundreds of homeless and jobless
people to work. His daughter reports that the business
grossed over one million dollars. Planning for the future,
he decides to buy some life insurance. Consulting with an
insurance adviser, he picks an insurance plan to fit his new
circumstances. Then the adviser asks him for his e-mail
address in order to send the final documents electronically.

When the man replies that he doesn't have time to mess with
a computer and has no e-mail address, the insurance man is
stunned, "What, you don't have e-mail? No computer? No
Internet? Just think where you would be today if you'd had
all of that five years ago!"

"Ha" snorts the man. "If I'd had e-mail five years ago I
would be sweeping floors at Microsoft and making $5.35 an
hour."

Which brings us to the moral of the story:

Since you got this story online, you're probably closer
to being a janitor than a millionaire. Sadly, I received it
also.

I am awesome :)

Yawn... Okay, so, I'm really really tired, but it's definitely been worth it!

Saturday I went surfing with my friend Graham, who just got back, which was pretty sweet...
We went down to Santa Cruz with his church... the waves were really small, but that was okay,
since I'm not that good at surfing, and we had a lot of beginners with us... The water was really nice though...
Amazingly warm. You almost didn't need a wetsuit.

then... Graham and I went to see Live Free or Die Hard... most entertaining :)
spent the night at graham's house... we stayed up half the night watching vids of Criss Angel on youtube...

Yesterday was pretty sweet too... Church, then went rock climbing at planet granite in Belmont with Luke and David and Casey... that was a lot of fun, but my arms felt so dead afterwards... Last night was youth group, and we showed the mexico vid daniel made of our trip... it was pretty funny...

so yeah, that's about it... just one more piece of news... I finished reading the last Harry Potter book this morning. :) it was pretty good... i was pleasantly suprised.

anyway, catch you all later,
Josiah

Joke for the day:
Car Privileges

The mother and father had just given their teenage daughter
family-car privileges. On Saturday night she returned home
very late from a party.

The next morning, her father went out to the driveway to get
the newspaper and came back into the house frowning. At
11:30 AM the girl sleepily walked into the kitchen, and her
father asked her, "Sweetheart, what time did you get in last
night?"

"Not too late, Dad," she replied nervously.

Dead-panned, her father said, "Then, my precious one, I'll
have to talk with the paperboy about putting my paper under
the front tire of the car."

Mexico

Okay, so... it's been forever since i posted... but, so i don't make a long post, which i know nobody will read,
i'm just going to hit the main points of my life. Life's been incredibly awesome lately.

For those of you who didn't know, I just got back from mexico yesterday, and  the trip was absolutely amazing.
We left monday morning, and got into El Paso, Texas in the early afternoon. From there, we drove to Juarez, Mexico which is right across the border and checked into our hotel.

The first couple days were a lot like a summer camp... we had seminars on missions and God's love and stuff... and then free time to swim in the pools, or hang out or whatever. I learned the greatest game EVER! It's called buck-buck.

here's the wikipedia entry 'cause i'm too lazy to type it:

The group divides into two teams. One member of the first team bends over and wraps his/her arms around a tree or similar object, the next member bends over and hugs the first one around the waist, and the remaining members do the same one after the other to form a "horse". The other team takes turns shouting "buck buck number 1 (2, 3,...) coming!", then with a running start, jumping onto the back of the "horse". Each team member stays on the horse while subsequent jumpers accumulate.

Rules may vary, but generally the objective of the jumping team is to collapse or "break" the horse, and the objective of the horse team is to get a member of the jumping team to touch the ground without breaking the horse. The winning team gets to jump in the next round. Collapses can be especially stressful for the horse team because the jumpers keep their feet away from the ground, thus doing nothing to ease the impact.

anyway, that was hecka awesome... and then wednsday, we had this major prayer session where we all shouted out prayer for the cities we were going to, and then they sent us all out...

for the next couple days we ministered at a couple churches, doing door to door outreaches, meal outreaches, and VBS. we did the turnaround skit twice, and a bunch of other stuff... i got to face paint :)

some of the highlights:
Worship was incredible!
Several people whom we prayed for were healed.
Our team cast out a demon! (Praise the Lord!)
at the final count over 500 people had come to know the Lord by the end of the week!

GOD IS AMAZING!

and then the last day, we went shopping in the Mercado, and we got to bargain for stuff... soooo much fun!
I got a couple of sweet knives and some souvenirs for my siblings.
Then, that afternoon, the other teams came back and we had testimonies and stuff, and then we just hung out, then all got up early the next morning to say goodbye to each other.

that's basically the brief version of it... it was sooo awesome beyond words though, and now i'm totally pumped for God!

so yeah, that's all... hope that wasn't too long :) and i'll talk to you all later!
Josiah
